I was born in Beijing and grew up in Beijing. I graduated from Beijing No. Four Middle School in 1992 and began my college study in Tsinghua University. I was in Class J23 of Department of Computer Science and Technology.  I received my bachelor degree in Computer Science and Technology in 1997. I continued to study for a master degree in the same department, and joined Systems and Applications Research Group (now part of the Institute of High Performance Computing). My advisor was Prof. Weimin Zheng, who is now director of Institute of High Performance Computing. My master thesis was to provide high availability support for a cluster web server developed in our group. I received my master degree in 1999.
